Opportunities to Volunteer

YOU matter at Forest Ridge! 

Your participation as a parent volunteer is vital to the success of our programs, school events, and fundraising efforts!

Here are the many opportunities to volunteer at Forest Ridge:

Classroom/Grade-Level Opportunities

Grade-Level Coordinator/PTO Liaison

  • Organize room parents from each classroom for grade-level projects, parties, and events under the direction of teachers and PTO staff appreciation chairs.
  • Effectively communicate with a room parents to achieve common goals.

Room Parent

Assist teachers with duties according to teachers’ needs. Some common duties may include:

  • Communicate information to classroom parents regarding classroom and other school events and teacher appreciation projects
  • Work with other room parents under the direction of the teachers and grade-level coordinator to plan the grade level events and projects as requested

Classroom Volunteer

Assist your teacher with projects, as requested, but may include:

  • Stuffing Monday folders on a weekly basis,
  • Helping with small reading or project groups,
  • Organizing readers and more.

See your child’s teachers to sign up for these opportunities.

General School Opportunities

Teacher/Staff Appreciation

  • Help treat our teachers and staff with refreshments for faculty meetings, special breakfasts and luncheons, and other treats throughout the year.
  • Contribute one time or once a month.

Daddy Patrol/Crosswalk Guard

In the mornings, the Forest Ridge parking lot is a very busy place. Dads are encouraged to join the Daddy Patrol, a volunteer group that supervises and provides safe crossing between the parking lot and the school.  For questions or to become involved, contact Steve Boswell.

Library

Assist in the school library once a week with checking in/out books and library organization. (1 hour/week)

Art

Prep art supplies, mount student artwork, organize materials, sort art magnet order.  Have a special art talent? Visit with the art teacher to arrange a time to share it! (time obligations vary by project)

Music

Play an instrument or have a musical talent? Visit with the art teacher to arrange a time to share your skills! Assist with sing-a-longs and musicals as needed. (time obligations vary by project)

Event Sign-In 

Assist the front office staff with checking-in and welcoming visitors to Forest Ridge on special event days (third grade museums, sing-a-longs, Grandparent’s Day, etc…)

Testing Snacks

Assemble snack bags for third and fourth graders to enjoy during their spring standardized testing snacks. This is a great way to get to know other Falcon parents. (2-3 hour one-time commitment)

Falconpalooza….Fall Festival! The FUNDraiser that is Fun for Falcon families!

There are many ways for parents to contribute to Falconpalooza!

  • Attend this FUN event with your family and bring your friends! With tons of games, live entertainment, and an amazing silent auction, Falconpalooza is for everyone!
  • Work a shift for set up, during the event, or clean up (1-2 Hour Commitment)
  • Join one of these planning committee (3-5+ hour committment)
    • Decorations- Plan, create, and set up festival decorations
    • Food- Assist with food organization, set up, selling, and clean up
    • Tickets- Prepackage tickets from home (a great job for those who work outside the home or who have young children at home) sell tickets presale at school, sell tickets event day
    • Silent Auction- Work with your committee to solicit, collect, and organize silent auction donations. Set up silent auction items on Friday evening before Falconpalooza
    • Class Baskets- Sign up to the be basket parent for your classroom. Collect donations from your class and create a one-of-a-kind thematic class basket.
    • Games- Plan, organize, set up, and facilitate the fun games and activities at Falconpalooza.
    • Volunteers- Help organize and check-in volunteers for event set up, event shifts, and event clean up.
